Normally news on here is almost solely about Peter and his work. However, throughout almost all of his painting life, Lesley, our mother, was by his side. But really, she was never just ‘by his side’, without her, he wouldn’t have been able to be the painter that he was. In the early years together, Lesley, knowing that Peter hadn’t enough money to buy paints to finish a painting, bought him some and delivered them to his studio. As anyone who knew her would testify, Lesley was no pushover, in fact she was one of his sternest and most admired critics. Throughout her life, Lesley was a willing model for Peter on the premise that she was allowed to sleep or read a book. Whatever our families varying beliefs, Dad would firmly have believed that on leaving us peacefully this morning, Mum will now be once again with him.
